What happens when you invite an international vlogger to join in on a month-long program.
You may even have seen our students dance their way around Ecuador in a DIY music video.
But have you ever wondered what it’s truly like to spend a full month with El Nomad in Ecuador, climbing to the top of the Amazonian canopy, or chomping on a local delicacy that looks and tastes like a worm (wait – is it a worm?)
Enter: Sophie Saville and her video camera.
Sophie joined us last summer for our faculty-led program with Arizona State University. Even though she skipped out on most of the academics, Sophie managed to put together an all-revealing vlog series that provides you with an insider's glance into an El Nomad experience.
From the mind-blowing architecture of Quito to the gorgeous views of Salinas de Guaranda, Sophie captured it all – stopping for many, many pineapples along the way.
Check out Vlog 1 of 9 - with just a couple of the highlights below!
In this first episode, Sophie arrives in Quito and happens upon street art, city life, bouncing slack liners, and tasty local treats.
Have you ever heard of “papas con cuero” (potato and pig skin!)?
Get the chance to meet Pip, the Regional Manager, who is also accompanying the group on their Ecuadorian journey.
Pip and Sophie happen to be from the same country - any guesses on which one?
El Nomad’s emphasis on service learning can be seen from the footage of a local Ecuadorian entrepreneurship course that our students taught.
Finally, meet the entire ASU crew as they begin their month-long passage throughout Ecuador.
That’s all for now, folks!
Stay tuned for the second vlog next week. Psst – it features our students experiencing the Ecuadorian Amazon and eating live insects… no, we’re not kidding.
